Rock Climbing
Rodellar is a world-class climbing destination
Rodellar offers one of the world’s best climbing areas, with over 1,000 routes across 35 sectors on high-quality limestone.
Rock Climbing
All climbing areas are easily accessible from Kalandraka; the closest is just three minutes from our facilities. The areas are mostly located in the Mascún canyon and there are beautiful pools for swimming everywhere, often at the base of the routes.
rock
The rock in Rodellar is limestone, and the area is best known for its large overhangs and steep routes with impressive tufas. Most climbs are long, athletic, and spectacular. There are also numerous caves and small roofs with short, powerful routes, as well as vertical walls featuring technical climbs up to 40 meters and beyond. While there are bouldering areas, particularly in the smaller caves, climbers not interested in rope climbing might prefer other destinations.
Difficulty
Rodellar offers a wide variation of dificulties, from IV grade to 9b. It's considered a paradise for hard climbing, due to the quality and quantity of 7th and 8th graded routes.
Best season
The best time for climbing in Rodellar is spring and autumn, but you can also climb very well in summer and winter. In summer, temperatures are quite high, making it a great time to enjoy the shaded areas and beautiful days alternating between climbing and swimming. Summer also brings the best local festivals. In winter, the waterfalls can be wet, although they are mostly dry. If not, there are still plenty of routes that never get wet, so you can enjoy them for a long time.
